The use of multi-factor authentication is an industry-standard and a crucial step toward ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of district PII (personal identifiable information). Really Great Reading now requires multi-factor authentication for all educator and administrative users. This feature is activated by default and deactivation is only considered under specific circumstances.
Before requesting removal of MFA on behalf of a customer, please review the scenarios described below to determine if your customer is eligible. If they are, please submit the request to Online Tools for further review.
At the individual level, removal of MFA will be considered in the following cases:
- Reviewer accounts
Reviewer accounts are accounts created to facilitate the anonymous review of Really Great Reading materials. These accounts are attached to fictitious schools and do not include any real district PII (at the educator or student level). These accounts may be used for the purposes of customer reviews, curriculum reviews, partner reviews, vendor reviews, accessibility reviews, etc. At no time will a reviewer account be used to deliver instruction in the classroom. - Substitute accounts
A substitute account is an account to which one or more OLT licenses are attached. This account cannot be tied to or named after an individual. It must clearly have been purchased as a reserve license to support short-term substitutes delivering lessons in the classroom. These accounts will not allow multi-user sessions. These accounts will not have Reading Playgrounds licenses attached to them. A substitute account will have no access to student data. Long-term substitutes are expected to be assigned the educator’s license for their time in the classroom if access to the Playgrounds is required. - Shared Intervention accounts
A shared intervention account is an account to which one or more OLT licenses are attached. A shared intervention account is one that may be used by multiple individuals for limited time during the day. This account cannot be tied to or named after an individual and must be clearly named as a shared account (i.e. first name: Jefferson Elementary / last name: Intervention). These accounts will not allow multi-user sessions. These accounts will not have Reading Playgrounds licenses attached to them. A shared account will have no access to student data. If the interventionist requires access to student data, the individual user should either have their own license or be added as a co-teacher to the necessary classes
At the organizational level, removal of MFA will only be considered if
- No Student Licenses
There are no student licenses in the account and the organization has expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the MFA process. Please note that customers who roster with Clever and Classlink automatically bypass MFA. - Technical Issues
The organization is experiencing technical difficulties. In this case, the MFA may be relaxed temporarily to allow for remediation of the issue. Following remediation, MFA will be reinstated in order to protect student data.
